This is how it happens every year… we literally have an entire year to come up with something for the next family card but my brother Jeffrey and I can never think of anything until our mom gets super stressed out and gives us deadlines so that they go out in time, and Jeff and I go back to her with something not so reassuring like “you can’t force creativity or put a timeline on it, gosh, mom” and our pops is texting Jeff and me on the side to think of something quick because he’s getting the brunt of her stress. And one day it just happens. Jeff goes, what if we do this? Then I crack up. Then I go, and what if we do this? And Jeff cracks up. And we keep going back and forth until it’s ridiculous and late enough for our mom to not even care anymore that her relatives in the Philippines are so confused about our family, that she just wants to get the cards out.
